This was a mini lesson I thought using the MTV strategy “Step Inside” to teach how to critique and talk about a work of art. This fits with this Teacher Quality Standard because it demonstrates my knowledge in the art content area and its standards. I chose to use this artifact for this standard because it demonstrates my understanding of the Visual Art Standard number 4, Relate and Connect to Transfer. I believe in this mini lesson I used an MTV strategy creatively to help teach an important concept in art, and showed my knowledge in the content and how to teach it.

This artifacts relates to Teacher Quality Standard 1 because it is a lesson plan that teaches important concepts in my content are. It also connects multiple areas and is interdisciplinary in the way that it connects art to social issues in the real world. I chose this artifact to demonstrate my proficiency in this standard because I feel as though it reflects the 3 important aspects of art lessons which are, passion, pertinence, and personal to the students. By creating art lessons that meet these three themes, art can be more effectively taught to students in a way that prepares them for the world and makes them think deeper about certain things.
