This artifact relates to Teacher Quality Standard number 2 because it is where I recorded my observations and knowledge of the class demographics, personality, and interests for the class that I was placed in this semester. I chose to include this because it demonstrates how it is important to understand the population of a class or even a school when knowing how to set up a supportive environment and place where all students can learn. Each student has different needs, and in this case, there were also a couple students with IEPs in this class. It is important to understand these as well as the goal of the class so that necessary accommodations can be made to ensure learning for each student as that is the teacher’s responsibility.
Artifact 2: Expectations/ Management Syllabus

This artifact relates to Teacher Quality Standard 2 because it sets up a predictable and reliable environment and guidelines for this class. By having norms, expectations and routines with a syllabus early on, students can feel more equipped to learn and know what is expected of them. I chose to include this artifact because I feel as though it demonstrates how important this standard is to me. I really aimed to highlight the importance of respect and listening top others in my syllabus in order to create a safe environment. I also tried to push the idea that all students are artist, there is no such thing as “I can’t”, and that failure should be celebrated. Not only are this important aspects of teaching art, but I want it to be clear to students right away that they can be comfortable to create and share and feel confident in their successes and failures.
